- Download HamachiSetup-1.0.3.0-en.exe.
- Install it, accepting the default values, except for when it asks for a name, please put in YOURNAMEPC or something to let me know whose computer this is.
- When Hamachi first runs, you will be presented with a "first time run wizard." In order to use the program, walk through the wizard.
- The power button is the lower left button on the gray window.
- The "Join existing network" option is on the second button from the right on the bottom (next to the gear button).
- The "Preferences" is on the lower right gear, where you can do such things as change your display name.
- Run Hamachci if it isn't running (in the system tray it looks like three green squares). Click the "Join an existing network" and enter ECJB for the network and computerrepair for the password.
- Download vnc-4_1_2-x86_win32.exe.
- Install it, accepting the default values.
- When the install is finished, it will launch the server preferences.
- On the "General" tab, (the first one that opens) click "Password authentication" and type in firsname!@home where firstname is your first name in lowercase.
- On the "Connections" tab, change the top number from 5900 to 5901.
- Click the plus sign in the big box on the bottom. Then click the Edit button on the right.
- Enter 5.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 in the box and click OK.
- Click Add.
- Enter 192.168.0.0/255.255.0.0 in the box and click OK.
- Download firewall.txt.
- Rename it to firewall.reg.
- If the file only says "firewall" and when you point at it, the tooltip is "Text Document," then do the following: Go to Control Panel → Folder Options and click the "View" tab. Scroll down until you see "Hide extensions for known file types." and uncheck it. Now you should be able to rename the file.
- Double click the file. This will cause Windows to ask if you want to add it to the registry. Click Yes.
- The above only works for the Windows XP firewall. If you have another firewall, add C:\Program Files\RealVNC\VNC4\winvnc4.exe to your list of program exceptions. Also add ports 5801 and 5901 TCP to your list of exceptions.
- You are done.
